Phoenix Oil Change

At Perez Auto Repair your oil change is conducted by an ASE-certified mechanic and include a multipoint vehicle inspection to ensure the overall safety and security of your vehicle. For this reason, our oil services typically take between one to two hours. We prefer the vehicle be dropped off with us in the morning and left for the day to allow for adequate time to complete our process. We will contact you immediately after we are finished and won’t hold it longer than necessary. If you will be waiting for your vehicle, please keep this in mind and plan accordingly. We use a variety of synthetic blends and synthetic oils depending on your vehicles manufacturer’s recommendations. If you have a very specific need please let us know ahead of time when scheduling your appointment so we can get you through the service and back on the road as soon as possible.

Preventing oil sludge

Oil eventually starts to turn into jelly. Literally, petroleum jelly. Sludge clogs up oil passages and keeps oil from getting to some areas of the engine, causing parts to wear out prematurely. And that means expensive engine repairs.

That’s why you need to change the oil and oil filter on schedule before it turns to sludge. Refer to your owners manual for recommendations regarding how many miles you can go between oil changes. They will also have a number of months between recommended oil changes because detergents and other additives in the oil will break down over time.

Also, depending on your driving habits can have a large effect. Most owner’s manuals will have a list of driving conditions that are harder on your vehicle. Things like stop and go driving, short trips to the the grocery store, driving in very hot weather, as in Phoenix or very cold, heavy loads and towing. If some of your driving fits this, you may need to change your oil and do other maintenance on a shorter schedule.

This may sound complicated. Some vehicles have an oil life calculator that takes all of these factors into account and tells you when you should change your oil. Otherwise, talk with a Perez Auto Repair service advisor about how you drive and get their recommendation on your next service.

Finally, if any of the steering or suspension parts can be lubed, the certified technicians at Perez Auto Repair will take care of that with a lube, oil and filter service.
