Porsche repair – Porsche is a German automobile manufacturer specializing in high-performance sports cars. Porsche is headquartered in Stuttgart, and is owned by Volkswagen Automotive Group.
Porsche was founded by Ferdinand Porsche, with main offices in the center of Stuttgart. Initially, the company offered motor vehicle development work and consulting, but did not build cars of its own. One of the first assignments the new company received was from the German government to design a car for the people, a “Volkswagen”, resulting in the original Volkswagen Beetle – one of the most successful car designs of all time. Most of Porsche’s early work was developing and manufacturing military variants of the Beetle for World War II. When World War II ended, Ferdinand Porsche was arrested, but never tried, for war crimes and was imprisoned for 20 months. During this time, Ferdinand’s son Ferry Porsche developed what many people consider to be the first Porsche, the 356, which went on sale in 1948. Ferdinand Porsche had developed a car of his own, the Porsche 64, in 1939, but it never made it past prototype status.
Porsche has always maintained a close relationship with Volkswagen due to its shared origin story, but each company is now a highly successful standalone brand. The Porsche 911 is considered one of the greatest sports cars of all time, and Porsche has also produced legendary supercars such as the 959, Carrera GT, and 918, which uses cutting edge hybrid technology, as well as successful racecars such as the 962 and several others.
In the early 2000s, Porsche introduced an SUV, the Cayenne, in order to expand its customer base and profits. Many Porsche enthusiasts worried that this would “water down” the brand’s sporting legacy and soften the brand’s emphasis on performance, but the Cayenne has proven to be highly successful and capable, combining Porsche’s legendary performance and driving feel with luxury and off-road capability. Since then, they have also introduced a sports sedan – the Panamera – and a smaller crossover SUV, the Macan.
Porsche’s company logo was based on the coat of arms of the Free People’s State of Württemberg of former Weimar Germany, which had Stuttgart as its capital (the same arms were used by Württemberg-Hohenzollern from 1945-1952, while Stuttgart during these years was the capital of adjacent Württemberg-Baden). The arms of Stuttgart was placed in the middle, since the cars were made in Stuttgart. The heraldic symbols were combined with the texts “Porsche” and “Stuttgart”, which shows that it is not a coat of arms since heraldic achievements never spell out the name of the armiger nor the armigers home town in the shield.
Porsche’s current lineup includes the 911 sports car, Boxster roadster, Cayman sports coupe, Panamera sports sedan, Cayenne SUV, Macan compact SUV, and the 918 hybrid hypercar.
